Biography
Mai Abo Shakra is a College Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at New Mexico State University, where she also earned her Master’s degree in Computer Science. She teaches undergraduate courses, advises students, mentors future professionals, and actively participates in departmental activities. Before returning to NMSU in Fall 2025, she served as a lecturer at the University of Houston–Victoria.
Her teaching emphasizes creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and growth. She has academic interests in robotics and artificial intelligence and is passionate about helping students connect theory to real-world applications through hands-on learning.
